Glucomet N Tablet contains Glibenclamide 5 mg and Metformin 500 mg and is used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes. Glibenclamide is one of the sulfonylurea which works by increasing the amount of insulin released by the pancreas in order to lower the blood glucose. Metformin is one of the biguanide which works by lowering glucose production in the liver, delaying glucose absorption from intestines and increasing the body’s sensitivity to insulin.How to use:Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Glucomet N Tablet is to be taken with food. This medicine may cause stomach upset if taken empty stomach.Precautions:You should continue to exercise regularly, eat a healthy diet, and take your other diabetes medicines along with Glucomet N Tablet. Take it with food to lower your chance of having an upset stomach. Monitor your blood sugar level regularly while you are taking this medicine. Inform your doctor about your diabetes treatment if you are due to have surgery under a general anesthetic. It can cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level) when used with other anti diabetic medicines, alcohol or if you delay or miss a meal. Tell your doctor immediately if you experience any deep or rapid breathing, or persistent nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain as Glucomet N Tablet may cause a rare but serious condition called lactic acidosis, which is an excess of lactic acid in the blood. Glucomet N Tablet is probably unsafe to use in patients with kidney disease and should be avoided. Please consult your doctor.It should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment may be needed. Common side effects of Glucomet N are Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level), Altered taste, Nausea, Diarrhoea, Stomach pain, Headache, Upper respiratory tract infection.
